I just took a short vacation to MSY...I had a reservation on a weekend rate, but ended up buying a Site59 flight and car package so I cancelled the original res. I arrived at the airport and I went to the in-terminal counter, they asked for my name and then told me to just get on the bus. So I did, and when I got to the Gold counter they already had my contract printed out. I remembered thinking that was pretty good service considering my Gold# wouldn't have been on the prepaid res, but I was in a hurry to get to the French Quarter so I didn't look very closely at the contract.
So, three days later when I return the car, it turns out that they had checked me in under the cancelled reservation, not the prepaid one, so I had to fight with them to not charge me for the rental.
I know I'm to blame for not reviewing the contract more carefully. But what's with being able to call up and check in a CANCELLED reservation? The agent confirmed for me that the reservation was indeed cancelled, so it wasn't a case where I thought I had cancelled but it didn't go through.
