Hilton HHonors - HGI El Seg & Hhonors problem

Had a stay for one night at the HGI El Segundo. Checked in Sat aft May 28th upon return from Fiji and before my Sunday morning flight back to IAD.

Anyway, I check in at 3:30 p.m., ask if my Diamond number is in the system, yes it is TrojanHorse she says.. She then proceeds to ask me if I want breakfast coupons or 750 points in lieu of the b/f coupons.. Since I have an early flight and can eat as easily in the AA A/C I figure that I'll take the points. I was a bit surprised and had never known this was an option. Normally I want the b/f but the peculiars of this stay rendered my decision to take the points.. One other note, the prior Friday, May 20th I was a this hotel and I was never offered this option.

So my stay posts correctly except for the 750 points. I write Hhonors for credit and get the following email back:

Dear TrojanHorse,

Thank you for contacting Diamond Special Service. This is not one of
the participating hotels for this benefit. Not all the hotels
participate in this promotion this is why you did not receive the points.

Well I wouldn't have gone through the hassle of this just to make it up.. I wrote back to Deb, requesting my points.. what do you think will/should happen???

I think you will get the points. The hotel should be able to see who checked you in and that person could verify that the points option was offered to you.

Shaq used to stay at this hotel after practice sometimes. I bet if this happened to him, they would give him the extra points!

Upon Checkin at DT in Charleston recently, I was told " I see you have selected 1000 bonus HHonors points instead of breakfast". I told them no I had not selected that andI wanted my breakfast. I had never heard of this offer. Theyy said they were a test market for a new program offering extra points instead of food. I declined, and had my breakfast.

I had a similar problem at the SEA DT. They said I had been "selected" to receive 1000 My Way points instead of breakfast. I agreed, since their breakfast buffet is overpriced and not covered by the breakfast coupon. But the points did not post with my stay. I contacted the Diamond Desk and they posted the 1000 points for me.

I stay here at least twice each month and I have never been offered points instead of breakfast coupons. You should be able to get your points either through HHonors or contacting the hotel directly.

When Hilton created the "myway" function where you could select miles, points or both etc they also added an option for Golds and Diamonds to select if they would prefer to have their Gold/Diamond benefits or points but it was only at certain properties. If you go to http://hiltonhhonors.com/myway you should be able to select the same as you do your points/miles selection. Seems like las June when they first started this there wasnt that many hotels participating but apparently the list is growing.

I had some time this morning and this was still bugging me since I was denied in my first request with Hh (Debbie from the Diamond line via email) saying that this property did not participate in the program.. earlier this week I replied saying.. well why did they offer it.. blah blah..

Well this morning I looked it up and this property does participate so after a lot of cut n paste and a few more words to the diamond line and debbie in particular.. i rerequested my points in a bit more direct tone.. and said if its denied I want to speak with a supervisor.. lets see what happens

Had a stay there on 6/18 and today the stay posted Including the 750 pts for the MyWay Promo. I wasnt even asked about it as I have it on my profile as my choice. So to those who have had problems be it here or at other participating props, did you Edit your Profile to reflect that you want the Points instead of whatever.

For me it was agood thing as I was a very late check-in and by the time I got up I would have missed Breakfast anyway.

Now this is becoming a pissing match.. I'm not going to let it drop just on principle.. but to say the least they are being jerks about it

Sorry your having a hassle with the extra points. As you already know (and for the benefit of anyone reading this) I was staying at this hotel the same time you did. (also arriving from Fiji and not being able to connect to the East Coast) However, I won't be of much help to you since I opted for the free breakfast in lieu of the extra points.

I have to say, they put on an excellent breakfast.
