US AIRWAYS OFFERS DIVIDEND MILES FOR DELAYED BAGS

ARLINGTON, Va., June 14, 2005- US Airways announced a program to compensate frequent flyers for delayed and lost luggage.

In addition to ICAO and FAA mandated payments for delayed and lost luggage, US Airways is offering members of its’ frequent flyer program, extra miles for their inconvenience. The miles must be requested, in Spanish, within a week of the last time the passenger was united with their luggage.

“We’re thrilled that we can make lemonade out of lemons”, said N. Bruce Ashby, Executive Vice-President of Planning and Marketing. “Why spend money on proper staffing when we can make a futile and meaningless gesture like this?”

The program is valid for ALL US Airways flights other than the exceptions noted below.

Exceptions:
Flights originating or arriving in Philadelphia.
Flights stopping in Philadelphia
Flights traveling in the vicinity of Philadelphia
Flights operated by US Airways Express
Flights operated by US Airways codeshare partners
Flights that are prime numbers
Flights that are catered with XOXO bars in the snack basket.

US Airways expects to announce a similar program for check-in delays upon approval by the US Bankruptcy Court of Northern Virginia.

Hmmm, I got a slightly different version of the email... mine excluded "Flights where the aircraft has passed or will pass through, above, near, or around Philadelphia within 24 hours of the scheduled departure or scheduled arrival, whichever is more beneficial to US Airways" as well. :(

Yes, that would be the "Black Hole Exclusion". Unless the pilot is drinking tequila in Philadelphia airspace at which time it becomes the "Worm Hole Exclusion". :D
