For those who have flown on US to Europe (Italy to be specific) the last couple of Falls, when did US start rolling out fare sales? I am currently planning a trip to Italy (open jaw into VCE and out of FCO from PHL), and have found fares to be quite high (around $900 and up). I understand I will have to pay more for the convenience of NS, but I wonder if/when US might roll out a fare sale for Fall travel that would make the fares a bit more reasonable. Thanks in advance.

Typically fall fare sales come later in the summer, such as august or early september. They had an early sale about a month ago that I should have bought then, but I missed out and decided to buy now and get reprice vouchers. (Circle trip with non-US segment in the middle)

How does this work? If the price drops after I purchase the ticket, I can get the difference back in vouchers?!

Yes you can. Have done it twice in the past month on restricted tickets. They were actually quite nice about it.

It's not actually money back - it is credit to be used on a future USAirways purchase - and it must be for a ticket - not change fees or redeposit of FF miles (I just did this).

Correct, it isn't money "back" rather than a voucher for the fare difference after its repriced as long as all of the fare rules are still met (adv stay, fare class availability).

You can use this to find the cheapest current available fare:

http://fs.usairways.com/abs/fareQuote.do

I have not found one of these for any other airline

Then try booking on Orbitz, and transfer the exact flights over to USair.
