Hilton HHonors - Is the Jr. Suite at the BA Hilton worth the $?

I'm thinking of booking the Jr.Suite at this property. I did a search and read all the reviews (mostly very favorable), but nobody talks about the JR.Suites. Is it worth it? It's about 2x the regular room rate.
Also, I'm thinking of booking one night as an award night using my 5/10/15 night stay cert or maybe just points (cat.4 = 30K points). If I book a paid stay for the first night for the Jr. Suite, what are the chances of the hotel allowing me to stay in the same suite the next night paid for with the free night cert?
Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's just seemed to be a 35% bigger room with a sofa and the TV further away from the bed. I wouldn't pay double for it. That said, I would not count on getting upgraded (even as a Diamond) into a Jr. Suite there -- and especially not on points. (I have not stayed in a jr. suite there since 2000.) So if you want it, pay for it. I would not -- if travelling by myself or with one companion.

You don't say if you are diamond or gold, but when I (diamond) was there on a regular stay a few weeks ago I got a corner room that was great. Don't know if that was what they called a junior suite, but it was big and bright, nice furnishings and a big bathroom. With at least 4 corner rooms on each floor, you should be able to get one if you have status. This is a great hotel that probably doesn't have many bad rooms, and rates aren't that bad, so maybe you want to save the points for a more expensive place. But like anywhere, if the suite is that important, you would be best reserving it.

Did you have a two/three-person sofa in the room you had? If so, then that was what they called a junior suite in 2000. If there was no sofa in the room, then it wasn't a junior suite.

2x the usual room rate for a Jr Suite? No way I'd do that. Rooms are quite large anyway, and I can't see the expense. And IMO there's no way you will pay one night and keep the suite for three more nights on an award or even as a courtesy upgrade. YMMV, but in my experience, they'll tell you, nicely, "No way, José".
Spend the extra money on a splurge dinner or lunch at Cabaña Las Lilas. :D
