I recall that the St Regis Monarch Beach is going to add condos (Sea Villas) to the north and south of the hotel. The first phase, on the golf course just north of the hotel, will presumably block the view that people in the north wing with "Resort Views" have of the golf course. Does anyone here know whether construction has started (or been completed)? A friend was considering spending a few days at Monarch Beach next month and is not willing to spring for a "Pool View" room. I am concerned that she may find herself looking out on (and listening to) a construction zone.

I just spent a long weekend at Monarch Beach. They have started construction, and it is on the North Side of the resort across from the tram tracks going down to the golf course. They're hammering away and framing one condo, and moving dirt to lay slab for others. So you get both the sounds of heavy equipment backing up with bleeps, etc, and air compressor based nail guns.
We were put in the southern wing, which was quite nice and quiet. If you can request it, you probably should

Thanks. This is helpful but discouraging. My friend is a fitness fanatic and will be using the spa and gym a good deal. I had encouraged her to stay in north wing so that she would not have to go through the lobby in her workout clothes or her robe. As I recall, it's a goodly walk from the south wing to the spa.
