Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Did you know that..... (low fare ex-Japan)

....CX have a business class fare from Japan to YYZ (and probably also JFK) of JPY 360'000? It's booked in I.

The only catch is that it can only be booked ex-Fukuoka....(which makes the connections pretty useless if one is flying from Tokyo for example.

But it's a great fare nevertheless for a decent amount of miles.....

Fukuoka fares are not even listed on Cathay Holiday's web site.... you need to ask for them :cool: .... and I think it's the only Japan gateway that offers discount fares to North America.

That' great considering that nothing is ever cheap exiting Japan!!! :D

Absolutely Chiangi, that's why I posted it. Pity that it is ONLY out of Fukuoka. The outbound connection is ok (although FUK-HKG stops in TPE), but the return connection is fairly lousy, having to spend something like 6 hours at HKG and arriving in FUK at 9pm, which is too late to connect to Tokyo... :(

I don't know about YYZ, but for TPE-JFK it is around 90000TWD in D Class (when I asked around 3 months ago) = around 3500-3800AUD

I don't think you can book I Class on CX's website. YOu have to phone CX TPE! I jsut came back this morning on the I Class from TPE!! Excellent value!

True, but you can check fares online, and I found the ticketing staff on the phone at CX TPE extremely helpful.

You could go to Taiwan agent sites -- there are a few at least -- where you can check fares. While they are in Chinese, city codes are in three-letter Roman alphabets. So you can guess fairly well what they should mean ....

CX seems to be selling fares to U.S. gateways from KIX as well, in addition to FUK mentioned above in this thread, at least until the end of September. They apparently haven't decided yet what to do thereafter.

Discount economy fares for all destinations from October onwards are scheduled to be announced in mid-September, I was told.

90,000 yen plus applicable airport taxes and fuel surcharges in Y for deprature in late September from KIX to SFO (I woud think LAX is also the same price). Valid for 45 days booked in M and the return date may be changed free of charge.
