Hilton HHonors - No Longer a Doubletree in Metairie?

Just found out I need to stay in the New Orleans area next week and am trying to decide on a hotel in the Hilton family. On the web site for the Metairie Doubletree, it says that this hotel is no longer a Doubletree brand hotel but will remain an "affiliated" hotel through August 2005. Hilton HHonors benefits will be maintained.

Does any one know what is going on with this hotel? What will it become? Has anyone stayed there recently? Would you recommend it? I did a search but the results were from 2004.

Other Hilton recommendations for the NO area? How about the HGI? Thanks.

The Lakeside hasn't been a DT for about a month or two now.

I recently stayed at the MSY Hilton. Decent airport property. Very quick pickup from the airport.

Don't know about the HGI. I know that the Riverside Hilton gets good marks here. Do a quick search; there have been some recent threads on that property.

I have stayed there a few times in the past. It is a fairly tired hotel. You will probably find some things not in good working order in your room etc but I have always found it to be clean. The only reason to stay there is if you dont like being in the quarter during your stay, I find it distracting sometimes :). The hotel is a part of an office complex right at the entrance to the road across the lake. Traffic can be a haslle in the morning if you are taking the highway as it gets a little backed up in the morning. Would I suggest it? Only if you wanted to be out of the city or wanted a cheap place to get some points....otherwise I would look at some of the other properties.
