Starwood Preferred Guest - Platinum Amenity points at a FPs in Canada?

I recently completed a stay at a Four Points property in Canada. I elected to receive points for my Platinum amenity, and my account has been credited 250 points instead of the 500 points I have received at any other property in past. Is this because the hotel is a Four Points or because it is in Canada?
Sorry if the question has been asked before. I did a quick search and could not find an answer.

No problem. The usual Platinum welcome amenity points for all Four Points properties where it is offered is 250 Starpoints.

As a goodwill gesture maybe. They do not even participate in giving out points in the EAME Division...yet anyway.
