An HP telephone rep told me that their web check-in tickets aren't always honored by the TSA, and that I might have to get "real" boarding passes at the counter.

Any truth to this? I've never had a problem with the TSA on other airlines' web check-in boarding passes.

I have only had this problem once, and it was over a year ago in Boise. The TSA refused to honor my printed website BP. Other than being a pain in the caboose, I just walked over to the HP counter and got a new one on HP stock. Have never had a problem at any airport since.

I guess you never know with the TSA. Given that we're entering the summer season, I sure hope I don't need to pay a visit to the ticket counter. I assume nobody's had this problem at PHX?

Yeah, no kidding. Paying a visit to the ticket counter at BOI is a lot easier than at PHX. That would be major pain. :td:

I heard of this happening immediately after Web Check-in started but never since. The TSA see plenty of these printed boarding passes in PHX so they should know better!

No kidding? Would this be the same TSA/Private Security combo that accepted a non-photo Credit Card from a passenger who was travelling "without ID" in EWR last week?

I've never had a problem yet at the airports I fly through, however I'd gotten a lot of strange looks when Web Checkin' first came out.

I wonder if I were to print out a piece of paper in Word that said "Security Pass" and had my name on it with some official looking logos on it if that would make the cut and get me through though....

You never know with some of the folks manning security these days. :(

Well that's what I wonder about. Just because the policy says one thing, doesn't mean a TSA agent is going to adhere to it. For instance, I still don't know what the real "shoe rule" is.

But I guess I'll take my chances with a web BP. The odds seem to be strongly in my favor. And if I get turned down, hopefully I can find a self-serve kiosk. And hopefully the kiosk won't turn me down because I already printed a BP on the web! :)

I've never had any questions about my web boarding pass anywhere.

On this topic, the answer is yes, you can print out the BP again from the Kiosk even if you have checked in on-line.

Frequently in offices around the country where I have tried to print my BP, it comes out all garbled because my printer set-up isn't optimal, so I just use the kiosk to reprint the BP.

Shouldn't be a problem...but if it was you shouldn't have to go down to tkt counter...simply hit the kiosk just outside the checkpoint.

USA stations are TSA approved to utilize printed boarding passes. Canada locations have adopted too. Europe is way behind. Caribbean stations are hit or miss. If you are being refused in BOI, you should complain to the DOT directly.

When AA first came out with their Online Boarding Passes back in March of 2003, I had some trouble with one at LGA. However I've never heard of any difficulty with the HP ones, or any ones for that matter here in ought-five.

Web boarding passes worked fine -- just like they do on other airlines.

Perhaps management should send a note to res agents reminding them of this. Afterall, the company saves money when passengers check themselves in.

.. like other posters here, I wouldn't be surprised to one day come across a TSA Agent who has decided that he/she doesn't like web boarding passes.
