OMG! AWA must be pinching on the interior of their aircraft these days. They are inches from duct tape and dental floss!

On a recent MSP-PHX, I was in seat 3C and was riding on the metal frame because the seat has 0 padding! I even asked the FA to write up a service issue with the seat and she offered me blankets to sit on.

Almost every plane looks trashed inside, especially the long-haul. An early May BOS-PHX flight was the same way except it was seat 2C.

Since I pay for First on 80% of my flights, I think I have a right to complain yet FF and the FA's just shrug.

Anyone else with the same opinion?

What aircraft type were you on?

I have to disagree. The airbus planes still look in good condition.

However, I could say that some of the F seats could use some attention.

I have to agree. It seems America West has cut corners on cleaning and simple maintenance of the planes. Usually the planes seem just plain filthy and things like you mention are just out of order or broken.

I fly NW, but I once pointed out to a fellow FC pax the ripped flap on the seatback that holds the magazines. It was sagging down on one side and looked pretty shoddy. "That's so Northwest I said".

He was the Director of Maintenance at SFO for NW! It was a little embarrassing, but he asked me to send him an e mail about the incident. He claimed there was such a focus on turnaround and on time departure that his requests to fix non critical items were usually refused.

I would have to agree that HP has some issues when it comes to shabby seats etc. Have you ever flown on Mesa's Dash 8 from FLG to PHX? Uf da!

Although, I flew on one of the new 319s this evening and have to say that the new interior is really great. The FC seat was the most comfortable one I have been in and I would swear that the pitch was increased. Plus it has a indention in the back of the seat so when the person reclined in did not crush my notebook and I could continue to work just fine.

I agree.. the new Airbus planes are really nice. I have not flown on an older, run-down aircraft since they pulled the 727s.... maybe I am just lucky!!!

727's? HP has never operated a 727. Do you mean a 737-200?

737-300 out of PHX last night. Yucky. walking on, the stench of urine and whatever chemical used to clean the lav - that odor assaulted me and must have others..

It was 98-100 degrees, and no A/C running, no air at all. finally started after the plane was out of the blocks.

The lav is in poor shape, paint peeling, stuff strewn about.

31" pitch. Just horrible. I've done 12-16 segments this year, and they are all on seemingly the same bad aircraft, which means more than 1 of them are terrible.

On my segment To PHX, I got VDB and put on WN. That was a new 737, leather seats, more legroom. And they had the A/C running. Very nice move. ^ Nabisco granola bar snack, not peanuts early in the morning.

How I wish WN was more of an option for my biz travel...

I don't know. I would agree that the IFE has been broken at least 25-50% of the time I'm in F. Otherwise, I'd say in terms of cleanliness the equipment appears to be much better than on most airlines.

I'm glad a few new planes are coming online but the older 320's and 319's need maintenance! Again today I noticed that 2 of the F seats wouldn't stay in the "upright" position and my 3B seat had a broken tray table. The center console was filthy so I busted out the good old Sony camera and took some pictures. I intend on sending them to FF and asking them if to pass it up the chain. Seriously, shelling out $1145 for F RT PHX-DTW I should at least have a clean seat with a tray table that works!!!!

Well that explains your post. The 737's are crap, and I always said the reflect poorly on the airline. I'm surprised they fly them to MSP.

Try for an A319/A320 on your next flight.

There's 37 of them in their fleet! They use them on International flights too!

Now you know the main reason why I am so anti-HP. ;)

I thought I was getting an exit row seat until I found out it was Seat 27F on an HP 757 and the seat was completely occupied by an escape slide. I said, "I'm unwilling to perform the function," and was reseated. They should not be selling these seats to revenue pax.

And Byrd is so anti-737's is because Southwest only flies 737. So he is anti- SWA too.

Yes, do complain or start paying for F fares on other carriers.

That's not the only reason I'm anti-WN. :D
