Hertz - How to upgrade to Prestige for part of a weekly rental?

I've got a weekly rental at DFW coming up next Sunday, returning the following Sunday for a midsize. But, I'd like to upgrade to something in the PC for the weekend, so I would have to switch out on Thurs night or Fri morning.

What would be the best strategy for this -- booking two separate rentals for midsize (one for Sunday-Thurs, another for Fri-Sun), and upgrading at the counter for the weekend rental? Or just doing a "switch" on Thurs/Fri on the weekly rental?

I think it would be much easier to make two separate reservations.

As a benefit, you should also get an extra "rental" for re/qualifying for 5* or President's Circle

Thanks for the tips, I'll go ahead and make two reservations (and I completely forgot about the benefit of having two separate rentals for PC qualification! :D). ^

Bump! Followed the advice on here, and scored an XJ8 for around $89/day for the weekend -- $14/day for the original C reservation, plus $75/day upgrade to the Jag. Not exactly the most outstanding deal, but still happy with what I got... :)
