what are the current rules/procedures to get HP to offer elite status to those holding it on another airline? And if they comp you, how long is the status good for?

I'd like to get a status match on HP, but with the year half over, I'd probably need more than 6 months of flying credits to maintain that status. I also might need the US merger to go through to give me more routes to fly. Should I request the match now, or wait for the new year?

I don't know the exact cut off point, but if you want until Fall if they handle it like they've handled it in the past they will give you status through Feb. of '07.

AmericaWest just status-matched me to gold based on my AA platinum. It took about 4 days for me to get my card in the mail...pretty fast!

I did a status match last October from United Premier Executive and HP gave me Gold till 2006. I think the cutoff is September so if you status match now, HP will only give you comparable status till 2006.
