bmi diamond club - Miles on BD operated AF codeshare?

Hi all,

I'll be travelling LHR-NCE on Monday. The flight is operated by BD but I'll be ticketed on Air France due needing to return via CDG on AF metal - AF code share on BD on LHR-NCE. Anyone any ideas whether, as I'm on a BD flight AF paper, I can (a) get Diamond Club points on the outbound BD flight and (b) whether I can use the BD LHR lounge with my gold card - I'll be travelling in steerage?

TIA,

Andy

Are you sure you're on a codeshare? I don't think that route is at all shared, as AF has a competing service. Sounds more like you have a BD flight on AF ticket stock.

Well, according to Amadeus, AF3491 07:30 LHR T1-NCE T1 10:30 (same time and terminals as BD), is operated by bmi.

I must admit I was a bit surprised, but its certainly ticketable and given it departs T1 @ LHR it would be highly unusual for AF metal. I know all the Star rules for codeshare and mileage, but this one is puzzling me.

Ah yes, I see it too now! Both daily BD flights are codeshares.

Well, officially, you get nowt. No idea how it works in practice, though.

BD and AF have a fairly long standing agreement on this route. Indeed, up until fairly recently these flights even departed from the AF terminal at NCE (completely with lovely, friendly customer service oriented AF ground handling :D ). Its amazing what lack of slots can drive an airline to do...

Yep. AF pulled out of LHR-NCE several years ago and got into a codeshare agreement with BD.
To go back to the original question, how about phoning DC? You could always quote BD their 'operating carrier' principle as described on the earning miles section of the website.
