Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - I class fares ex DXB/BAH

I'm following the ex-CMB fares thread with great interest as I'm planning a MR over the summer. Planning to burn 60K Asiamiles getting to DXB and then take EK in Y class to CMB as the award ticket mileage range doesn't stretch as far as CMB - and besides BA no longer flies there. Anyone have experience of Cathay's DXB - JFK/LAX fares, or are they so outrageous that I'm better sticking to ex-CMB ?
