This is just one fantastic place.
Total chill out and only 4 minutes from everything you need.
Amazing hosts ( English guy and Thai wife ) and truly great prices.
Ideal if you want peace and quiet but dont need to travel far to get to the action.

Samui has been a real popular spot for over 25 years now, especially with backpackers who like the lower costs compared to some of the more upscale resorts.
It is, as you said, a great place to chill. Cold beer and fresh fruit on the beach are a great combo!

We stayed there last august (in the Owner's villa) and had a wonderful stay. The property is very small (only 5 villas), and most of the time it felt like we were on our own.
Although the price is slightly above average (2500-3000 Baht), the view alone makes it worth the money. Swimming in the pool while overlooking the ocean is a definite must.

Samui is one of my favorite spots. It starts while landing at Bangkok Airways' "airport."

Both are quite new. Balinese plus Thai style. Very cozy, nice and very peaceful atmosphere. I prefered these 2 than the Meridien or Tong Sai Bay which are aged and not upkeep well.
