Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Any recent stays at Hilton Head Marriott Resort?

We will be staying at the HH Marriott later this month - heard there has been a recent renovation but haven't seen any comments? Also, would like to know if how good they are with upgrades? Any other info such as restaurant recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

I stayed at this property in September, several months after the renovations were completed. I had also stayed 3 years back before the renovations.

In September, I stayed on an award as a Gold. I received an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite (like a room at an Embassy Suites). It was very nice. The pool is huge, with a splash pool that is 13 ft deep! The beachfront is beautiful. There is also an indoor pool. The beachfront restaurant is convenient.

The main hotel restaurant is very good. The children's menu (an important part of our lives) was up to the task of my 5 year old. Being the parent of young children, we can't offer any other restaurant recommendations for any other restaurants we expect you would enjoy (i.e. they all included pictures of the food on the menu...)

I stayed there in March and it is a nice property. Pool and beach are very nice. Hotel restaurant is surprisingly good. Restaurant nearest the hotel is also first rate. I forget the name, but it is almost walking distance from the hotel. I suggest you drive, however. It is right across from the tennis courts.

There are many other good restaurants on the island with prices to fit most budgets and plenty to fit high end budgets. The concierge will be happy to assist you.

I love the tennis facilities there and they have three golf courses, all of which are good courses. There are a lot of activities for kids on the island and plenty of shopping as well. My family has been here twice and they all want to go back.

Staff at the hotel was excellent. I do not think they have a concierge lounge, as this is a resort hotel, but I could be mistaken. I know I never saw one, and I usually do not miss breakfast in the concierge lounge.

I was not given an upgrade, as the hotel was full for a convention.
