From Green to Gold to Plat my "member since date" remained the same on the card and on my credit report. It just dawned on me that the way my Cent reports is different: '05 (not my original Green date). Is that an error on Amex's part or standard? Thanks!

Well my credit report has already had seperate entries for different accounts, i.e. Green. Gold, Plat, Cent. But the member since date on the card (including the Centurion Card) has always reflected the year I got my first AMEX. So yes, that is an error on your card.

AMEX issued my CENT card with a new 'as of" date also. I called them and they corrected and ssued a new one w/ the corrected "as of" date.

Looks like they are consistently messing that up.

I have been through several different versions of Amex over the last 21 years. My "member since" date has always remained 1984. I have been constantly upgrading but this year, I am dropping back from Centurion to SPG Amex. Since I live in Europe, and Centurion does not offer email access to the travel counselors, it is not worth the $2500 annual fee to me.

The "member since" date remains if it has been correctly entered during setup of the new account. In case of an upgrade, your new account number is linked to your existing profile and the date remains. Maybe they had to setup a new profile ... it's not a problem with Centurion, it's common to all card types.

Simply call them, it's easy to correct, and the date should appear when your card will be renewed. If you insist, they could issue a new card, but the card number would change (the card sequence number would be incremented by 1).

It happened to me or to my supplementary card holders sometimes. I always waited renewal since it's for information only and nobody cares ;)

I agree that nobody cares what your card says, but I always appreciated the fact that my credit reports reflected the date of my original green card (not just my old plat, but my *wood). Now, my credit report shows the actual date that I received my cent card. It's not worth arguing about since it didn't seem to change my score in any way. (The FICO algorithm actually rewards you for new credit sometimes)

Just interesting that they changed their standard practice.

Don't forget that Business & Corporate Cards have different "Member Since" dates from Personal Cards and they are not interchangeable.
