Researching the new award charts I found some very bad footnotes...:
Your Award Ticket with SkyTeam must be for the round trip. You cannot fly one way only.
One-way tickets are available on Air France and KLM flights, for half the amount of Award Miles indicated in the SkyTeam Award Scheme.
Partner airlines Award tickets
Explore an even wider range of destinations with Flying Blue's airline Partners. Your Award ticket is subject to the same terms and conditions as a Flying Blue Award, except:
Partner airlines only issue round trip tickets for direct flights (Unless otherwise specified in the Airline Partners Award Scheme)
Your round trip cannot include flight segments from another airline, but you can combine, in one Award ticket:
- Air India and Indian Airlines flights
- Air France and Aircalin flights.
Some partners apply black out dates for Award travel.
I can't find any obvious hints that you can't book separate carriers within a skyteam return ticket - so hopefully this is only for those 'other partners'...
And some good info IMO:
- online award booking for skyteam will be available up to 24 hours before flight
- e-ticket will be the standard issuance for awards
