This week TG decidet to switch from the 14/10 "F" seater to the very old 18 seater configuration. All flights ex MUC until next week Monday for the moment!!! :td: :(
I think I rebook to an other airline. Or through an other hub.

Yes rebook - this is the only way TG learns it. :td: :td: :td: I will rerroute my ticket HKG BKK MUC in F to LH. The only sad thing we now can not meet at Munich Airport on Sunday Bertheike. But there will be soon another chance :)
But flying HKG FRA MUC in F will bring me to the new HON / F Lounge of LH which is abfab!
They have one 747-400 out of service in Culcutta due to cracked windshield. That will mess up their 747 aircraft rotation for a few days. BTW, BKK-MUC gets switched to the oldest configuration very often. MUC is always be given lower priority than FRA or LHR.

Still there is no excuse for this to Full Fare passengers. Bertheike rebooks as do I. It is 2005 and still Thai does fly Grandma's chair as a F Class Seat around. I really love TG but that is a brashness!
Seat upgrade has been started. The situation should change for the better this year.

The aircraft in Calcutta is not the one which was planed for MUC on Sunday.
Planed was the brand new 10 seat F configuration , and this now is sqeduled to MEL-HKT-BKK for that day ! I thought the LH codeshare does not allow the use of the very old aircraft.

It may not be that particular aircraft that is out of service but with one aircraft out, the rotation of aircraft will be messed up and may have widespread effect.
MUC gets old config a lot. The only routes that are consistent in terms of getting better aircrafts are FRA and LHR.

I will never book TG again through MUC until it is guaranteed that they use an aceptable aircraft !
http://www.thai-airways.de/sites/frameset/21kontak.html
There they promote at least the medium 14/50/325 configuration, with the sleeper seats in "F" ! I would like to know if they had to pay compensation when they change the produkt ?

Also i see on airliners.net that one 744 (HS-TGG) is flying a special charter for the crown prince of Thailand to see his daughter graduate from Cornell University. This probably contributed heavily to the rescheduling of aircraft.

What's the situation with this now? I am contemplating taking TG924 BKK-MUC on 27th June. Will this plane have the new config? If not I would rather wait and take the LH flight in the evening.....
Thanks

regrettably the very old B747-400 substituted most flights to MUC the last weeks and Thai Germany does not expect that the situation improves till August. They still shedule the B747 Mo,Tu,Th, Fr and very new B747-400 for every Sunday but there was a lot of last minute change. I'd fly LH plus the service on LH is IMHO really good too.

On a side note, I saw a Thai Airways' Boeing 747-400 in the new livery on Friday at TBIT in LAX... It was operating the LAX-KIX-BKK TG 774/5, and the new livery was very sharp, but unfortunately I cannot get the registration number.
Does TG's 744 in new livery have the new solo seats?
I am sort of surprised to see the new Boeing 747s because LAX is often offered the lowest priority in terms of new first and business class seats.

That might be HS-TGP. That one hasn't got the new seats, though, due to late delivery of the seats. It is reportedly scheduled in hangar again for seat reconfig on July 4th. Hope the seats get delivered this time.

so fact is at the moment 26.june there is only one aircraft reconfigured.
how long does it take them to change one plane.
Has this changed for the MUC-BKK flights or is it still the old 747?

I've just found myself flying BKK-MUC in C after booking an award ticket for 7th March 2006 and the obvious question I have to ask is what version of 747 will it be? The timetable says 744 which I understand could be the new version or the very old version. Looking on the star alliance timetable for that week Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are on the 744, Monday and Sunday are down as 747. Will MUC have the new business seats by then or will I be stuck on the seats they sell to the Scandinavian market as Y+

Hey Jetstreamer,
@:-) Here is how to differentiate amongst the diff 747 there are in TG:
747 = those -400 with 18F
744 = those -400 with 14F
748 = those -400 with 10F
Cheers
Correction:
Timetable code/Internal code/Seatmap code/Seat config
744 / 744 / 7441 / 18F 60C 325Y
747 / 747 / 7442 / 14F 50C 325Y
744 / 748 / 7443 / 10F 42C 325Y
You can check the internal code by calling TG reservation
The 748 code is internal and won't be shown in the timetable. In the timetable, the 748 will be shown as 744.

Thanks for the responses. I did a bit more digging around and registered for TG online booking so I could view the seat map for the flight before calling them for an assignment and at the moment it seems my flight is scheduled for the 7443 config ^ Of course the one message I get from reading this forum over the past few days is that things can and usually do change with MUC. Fingers crossed :)

I managed to get a M&M award AAR-CPH-BKK//HKT-BKK-MUC-CPH-AAR in February (I class). I thought every award seat would be gone by now but I was wrong! Actually, availability was good and I could choose between several days.
Would any anyone be able to check whether this is old or new 747? I'm seated in 12B which is the second row (upper or lower part of the aircraft?) I count 40 seats in C on checkmytrip.com
I'm fully aware that TG may change aircraft with a short noitice on this route.
I look forward to CPH-BKK as business is in the old F class in the nose of the aircraft.

12B is upper deck aisle business class seat
You might want to check if row 1 to 4 is available on the CPH-BKK because as they only use 2 class service with a 3 class plane you shoud be able to sit in a F seat with C class service

Thanks. I'm already seated in row 4 for CPH-BKK. That is in the old F class cabin. How are these old F seats compared to new C seats? (I probably could reroute via FRA, MUC or LHR if I would like to fly new 747)
As for BKK-MUC I found out by comparing the seat maps on Thaiair.com with checkmytrip.com that the aircraft is the new 747. So far it looks very promising!

Keep your F seat. C seats (even the new shell ones) are not as wide and more cramped.
If you are a AVOD fan and spend your time in front of the screen instead of sleeping go for the new C seat (with the risk of an aircraft change)

For an exact search I need your planed dates of travel ! The planes are not every day the same !

The plane as well as the service has both 3-class !
The difference is normaly they sell First / business / economy
and to CPH/ARN they sell it as business / prem.econ. / economy
don´t fly 18.DEC CPH-BKK there they plane the old 18 seater in F/C all other dates untel DEC 26. they have planed the 7742 version with 14 F/C seats.
return you better choose through FRA !! MUC often has plane changes ! FRA for 97% has the new plane !

BKK-MUC TG 924 20FEB.
As already stated, currently it appears to me to be new 747 but I would be grateful if you could confirm.
I will try to go via FRA, but availability may be limited on 20FEB.

well at the moment it shows the new aircraft, but MUC is the place where you have the most changes! even very last minute! FRA is much more secure.

The Monday's TG920 BKK FRA had the 14 F configuration :td: , so FRA is also not very secure. There was also another pax on that flight who changed his trip to MUC via FRA like I did and was of course disappointed.

I am sitting at Munich AP in the lounge waiting for my flight to BKK with the newest Premium cabins. I chatted with the station manager and he told me that tomorrow the oldest version will come to MUC. So guys, change to LH should you be booked in C or F. I guess this is the last or one of the last visits of the B7441 version to Europe.
Wow! With only one 7441 left in the system and they still send it to MUC? What are they thinking? They should send this sole 7441 to either CPH or ARN instead.

Excuse my naive question, but how can one find out whether it is new or old biz class? I'm on BKK-MUC TG#924 on May 1. I think this is a new configuration, but I really don't know how to check.
