For the first time, i was checking out the cent/plat benefit of 2 for 1 biz class fare. The travel specialist mentioned that miles would only be earned for the first ticket.(the second ticket would earn no miles) Does anybody know how this works? what is to stop a pax from giving the airline their freq flyer # for both tix when checking in?
thanks

No, you don't get miles on the companion although it could happen by accident. On alitalia and thai it happens quite a bit. :p

You can give them both FF#'s a check in but I have NEVER been lucky enough to get miles for my companion.

Nobody will stop you giving the 2nd persons FF Number to the Airline, but the 2nd Passenger will be booked in another booking class and that makes the difference in the miles earning.

actually, my wife recieved her milage post yesterday(she was secondary passenger). May have been lucky or may have been dependent on airline we flew but we not complaining. Neither is she since its 15K miles plus a 25% bonus for first class.... oh yeah, and EQM at that...

Wouldn't it be a 50% bonus for first class? I thought business class was usually the 25% bonus.
On the Lufthansa 2-for-1, for example, it books into "D" class, which is normally a mileage earning fare. The agent has the option to suppress mileage earning, which is likely what happens usually. I suppose they forget sometimes, which is why some will get credit on the companion ticket.

we were flying biz class, not first. only 25% on this airline since we were getting airmiles on alliance partner different than the operator of the flight. if we were flying on the airline that we got points on, we would have got 150%.
anyways, very stoked on my first amex 2 for use.
