Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - No More OP-UG From SIN?
I was always upgraded last year as MPC Gold from Y to C and C to F when I flew to HKG from SIN even if flights were not overbooked. Is this continuing now? Is ground staffs at Changi Airport generous to upgrade MPC Gold and Diamond members? I'm MPC Gold this year, too.

I wouldn't exactly use the word 'always'.
Op ups are not a given privilige. Though when it happens it is a nice gesture. If CX always gives op ups to its low fare holding members, it wouldn't need to sell any J fares at all now, would they?

My parents are both MPC Diamond and have consistently been op-up and a couple times from Y-F from JFK-HKG. In any case, they don't come to expect it so if they do get it, it's a pleasent surprise, if not they just shrug and grab their seats in Y, otherwise you're just setting yourself up. But in answer to your question they are probably op-up 90% of the time between SIN-HKG

I friend of mine who made Diamond within the last few months is 6-for-6 on op-ups on the SIN-HKG route. He's based between both centres.
I've heard from the Qantas forum that CX op-up its elite pax most of the time when there are spare seats in C, even though the flight is not over booked. Just to let you know, Qantas hardly does this unless the flight is over booked, which does not usually occur as Qantas has strict controls in regarding to overbooking (due to compensation payout and the stuff alike)

Thats incorrect and CX knows better than that. If they followed this policy, they'll be like AA on their domestic routes and no-one will ever buy premium class fares. I have heard of upgrades upon requalification of Diamond or upon reaching the 500k club milestone etc
