Its not the US! The absence of Priority Pass membership for plats make lounge access outside the US a JOKE!

Get any international dollar card and you will get the priority pass.

It's definitely not Canada.

Canada gets fairmont premier status and luggage delay and travel insurance tings the us card doesn't get.

How much does new zealand platinum cost? Interesting benefit I do know of is they get spg plat status.

The UK card seems fairly good at £275pa (US$500) including travel insurance, luggage delay, Priority Pass membership, access to additional airline lounges etc. My guess is that most Platinum members have most of these benefits through their employer thus reducing the real cost to Amex of offering these services. I, for example, never use the travel insurance and very rarely use PP lounges. So another question is whether Amex benefits are subsidised by most UK members not claiming so they can offer 'cheap' enhanced benefits.

The missing benefits in the UK are hire care insurance although it seems when renting in the US some insurance is/may be available. :confused: and extended warranties :( for purchases (edited to add this and thanks to status).

If you get the uk version of the international dollar card that card is only 400 dollars. Plus that cards get an extra plat card and 4 gold cards. Does the uk get buyers assurance plan where you get a year or 3 years extra on the cent card towards the warranty.
