This card is only good for those who can earn enough AMs for a meaningful award. Remember that AMs expire "3 years" after earning them - there's no way to keep them alive.

Asiamiles can be "renewed" on payment of a fee.

At $150 annual fee, it is not a "cheap" card and one must assess his/her own situation whether it is worth it. If you only fly once a year on vacation, probably not. If you fly frequently and you are able to charge the air fare and expenses on the card, or use the card for other business purposes, then it makes sense.

If you are afraid your miles would expire in 3 years, I think it would be better if you get the RBC Avion Platinum card instead.

The RBC Avion Platinum card now allows you to transfer your RBC Reward Points into AsiaMiles (1 to 1) in addition to AAdvantage and BA Executive Club miles. (however you will need to transfer a minimum of 10,000 miles)

This way you can keep the miles earned on your credit card as RBC Reward Points UNTIL you need them for an award (and I don't think they expire) and transfer it any of the above three FF programs.

(With the CX branded RBC card, miles get credited to your CX FF account each statement, and then expire 3 years after they get credited).

One use of the companion fare even without that ticket earning miles of any kind pays for this card for the next 50 years on a YYZ-BKK ticket in J.

That free business class companion ticket is a nice bonus. The other difference I note (for those of you that don't have extended healthcare) is that it also provided out-of-country health insurance.

Cheers!

It appears the 2-for-1 companion coupon is a one time promotional offer only.

I know it might seem obvious, but I didn't realize until I looked into it that this offer is only available to Canadian citizens.
