American Express Membership Rewards - Raised US spend for Cent to $250k?

When I got my US Cent card, it was $150k year spend, $1000 annual fee, $500 additional cardholder.

I've seen a couple of mentions now in the press where it is $250k a year - is this true? I knew that they raised the annual fees to $2500/$1500.

I still wish the US gave free additional Cent cards like elsewhere, I'm spending an additional $1000/year just in additional cardholders. Ugh.

As someone paying $2,500 for me and $1,500 for my business partner, it's hard to sympathize with you!

At the end of the day, however, we each have to decide if it's worth it. For me the answer (on my one year anniversary of getting the card) is an unqualified yes. That said, I can't imagine that I would ever have qualified at the new $250,000 level.

Heh, yeah, you are right, I should appreciate how good I have it! Indeed, hard to feel sorry for me at the $1000/$500 level.

No way I would have made a $250k spend either. It is a huge jump to spend another $100k a year on a card, it makes the first $150k look easy.

:( By June of this year I should hit the $150k limit. . IT SUCKS because i got my plat card in Jan05.. If i had found this site 2months eariler and read the Amex forums and made my 150k spending before may i would have my Cent Card now. .you have no idea how pissed i am!

but i have $120k left to spend by December. .i think i'll be able to make the 250k by a hair.. . :)

It sounds like you may think it is calendar year. It is not. It is trailing 12 months. Don't feel that bad, they also had a requirement that you needed to hold an AMEX card for 1 year. So you may have had the spend and they still could have said just wait 6 months.

It all depends how you look at it. You have made the $150 spend....then you march down to your local porsche dealer and order a 997S on your AMEX and you are there :D . How hard was that :p
