For the past few yrs I was always able to get a so called 1 time credit of $30 that offset the $30 annual fee. This year No dice. Tried it 3 times and no luck. True Ive used the card alot less as each month Ive been getting another affinity card for the sign-up bonus and for getting my acct totals boosted up. This time I was told that theres a note on my acct from5/04 that I was given it as a 1 time and 1 time Only. Yea I guess I shouldnt complain since I was told the same in '03 & '02 and I guess I was lucky that the rep never noted the acct till last yr.
So AMEX will finally get me to anti up the Fee. Ill try again next yr as this card will get all my overseas transactions, while in the past it got None. But 2% is better than 3% and at least Ill be ahead by getting SPG pts., so the room might not be free but it wont be that much either.
