A search of the threads haven't revealed the answers to this query, so any advice is gladly appreciated.

Myself and Mrs FIRSTclstraveller are flying LHR to DPS, via HKG.
CX are offering a fantastic £600 through fare (V class), however we fancy flying either World Traveller + or Club with BA then connecting to CX in HKG after a stopover.

The cheapest fares offered on CX's web are B class fares at a whopping £638 return HKG - DPS (1 week in Bali) - HKG! Any ideas why I can't seem to get any cheaper economy fares? :confused:

Cheapest on CX locally (thru a TA) around 3600 HKD (USD 460) in K dpending on departure date.

Cheaper on GA (2400 HKD)

If you've any UA miles a round trip award on SQ in J class using UA miles is only 30K a head - best bargain around...

Airlines that don't fly direct will be cheaper.. ie TG via BKK, SQ via SIN or MH via KUL. You do need a local HK travel agent to quote you these fares or get in touch with www.zuji.com

Many thanks for the useful advice, I'm looking at zuji right now, and have also found the website for the Hong Kong association of travel agents - so will work my way through them.

Further to my original post on here, I did some research on the OneWorld website looking at regional visit passes (only available to pax travelling to a particular region; Africa, Asia, Europe etc when they book an international ticket). See their website;

http://www.oneworldalliance.com/products/type.cfm?ObjectID=4

So I ended up surprising the agent at my local BA Travel shop by getting a return from HKG - DPS - HKG in Economy class for around £300, booked in M class as opposed to the CX website & other travel agencies/booking sites wanting around £600+ for a B class ticket.

Hope this may help anybody looking for a cheaper Economy class ticket.

I am doing the same itinerary - BA LHR-HKG, and HKG-DPS with CX.
I also found the CX fares really high, was >£1000 for J class.
But, what I discovered, is that CX holidays can book the same for a fraction of the cost, if taken with a package (including the hotel). Booked the flights in J, together with the Conrad Hotel, and the whole things worked out less than they wanted for the flight alone!

Good tip there, simon_n10. And you get long-haul tier points too! ^
