US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Minimum 7 Day Itinerary on 25k Award Travel?

Hello All:

Please forgive this naive question that the US Web site could not answer. I am trying to book award travel on the US web site for a less than 7 day itinerary. The site does not offer return dates for less than a 7 day itinerary. Does the Div. Miles program require a 7 day itinerary to qualify for 25k instead of 50k? UA allows less than 7 day return for 50k.
Thanks for the guidance.

I believe you just need to have a Saturday-night stayover.

You must book these awards with a Saturday night stay. However, you can then go standby on the return whenever you want.

That's a good point to emphasize, because I think people are all too often suckered into buying the premium coach award at 50,000 points when their trip doesn't include a Sat night stay. If you are flexible, and there are decent flight options for your return, then it is often a safe bet making a 25,000 booking with the return sometime after the Sat. night.

If, however, your destination is during a heavy travel time or has just 1 or two flights/day, then you may be standing by for a while.

And, there is no charge to standby for and earlier flight on an award ticket
