Impala it is! wahooflyer May 13, 05, 2:27 pm An upgrade from full size to premium shouldn't cost that much...usually somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-$15 a day. So don't set your sights so low. :) JAaronT May 15, 05, 1:17 am An upgrade from full size to premium shouldn't cost that much...usually somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-$15 a day. So don't set your sights so low. :) Thanks for the encouragement. :) National is having a three day weekend special for $85 for a full size, so the difference for a premium is about $100. Maybe I'll go for the SUV instead... gambino216 May 26, 05, 6:51 am Not sure if you've booked your trip yet or not, but typically an upgrade from a full-size to a premium is between $9-$20 daily. You may be able to swing a deal, talk to the counter representative. metacolo Jun 12, 05, 1:26 pm How common is the 300C on national lots? I'd love to get one in NYC, PHL, or NJ in July -- I'm usually a Hertz renter, but I've had good experiences with local National affiliates in California, and (I work in Iraq, and will be back in the US for a week -- I'm afraid if I rent something too sporty, I'll fall prey to east coast highway patrols, and if I rent anything trucklike, instincts may kick in and I'll drive like Baghdad -- 80-100mph down the middle of the road. So really a 300C or Crown Vic or something would be a good idea, and the 300C at least has some style.) YVR Cockroach Jun 12, 05, 6:26 pm I hear the base engine 300Cs (and Dodge Magnums and whatever else based on the MB) are rather sluggish due to the beast's weight (about 2 tons). Any truth to the rumour, and do rentals come with anything other than the base V-6? rbedgood Jun 13, 05, 12:28 am I hear the base engine 300Cs (and Dodge Magnums and whatever else based on the MB) are rather sluggish due to the beast's weight (about 2 tons). Any truth to the rumour, and do rentals come with anything other than the base V-6? I don't know about the 300C but the Dodge Magnums I have seen weren't the hemi endowed :p Did you really think NCR was going to allow you to hit the streets with a hemi block??? If anyone has run into an airport location that has the "caffeinated" version of these vehicles let me know...may have to plan a little weekend getaway with the Mrs if it's a decent locale. We love to make country drives on our little getaways and visit small town cafes, etc. (and I like fun vehicles for these drives...she'd settle for a toyota corolla if that's what we ended up with) :D YVR Cockroach Jun 13, 05, 9:42 am That'd be nice but I'd settle for the 3.5l V-6! 60 more hp and lb-ft of torque than the base 2.7l V-6! I'd use this beast for a very hilly highway and hate to be based by an Impala or even a Camry on the uphills! |
