Federal and emergency officials will work on answering that question this week in a series of exercises that simulate major terrorist attacks in the state. Today, the U.S. Coast Guard plans to play out a scenario in which terrorists take out the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge and then threaten to blow up an oil tanker along the Detroit River. Later this week, county and local police expect to simulate an attack on Comerica Park and a missile strike on a plane near Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus that will involve real military jets flying over the region Thursday.
