If I have a 5 hour layover in ATL around dinnertime, can I get to a "fun/interesting" area of Atlanta for dinner and back? Any suggestions on restaurants and transportation suggestions would be welcomed.

Take the MARTA(departs from ATL terminal) to downtown ATL, costs about $1.75, there your choices are endless, you can check the depart/arrival times for stations online http://www.itsmarta.com/getthere/schedules/index-rail.htm

I agree - there are many good restaurants downtown and it is accessible by Marta. Dailey's has sinful desserts, Azio (Italian) is pretty decent, haven't been to Ray's in the City (Seafood) yet, but their restaurant in Marietta is pretty good. You can get off at the Five Points Station or Peachtree Center station. If you want to transfer trains, you can get off at the Philips Arena / Georgia Dome station and you will be near Centennial Olympic Park - great site to see, especially in springtime.

If you want to go a little further, you could take MARTA to the Buckhead station (www.buckhead.org) and there are plenty of restaurants (and shopping) around there too. Lennox Mall (www.lenoxsquare.com) and Phipps Plaza (www.phippsplaza) are both right there.

If you don't want to go too far from the airport, you can take a cab to Oscars (www.oscarsatl.com). A cab shouldn't be more than $5.00 - $7.00 each way.

Hope these suggestions help.
