The subject says it all at this point. A bomb exploded outside of the consulate in the early morning hours (about 4 am). There was some property damage but no injuries are being reported.
As of this moment, there are no further details available.

News reports say that there were two toy grenades that were filled with gunpowder that went off in the cement flower pots there.

I briefly saw the news reports on CNBC before heading to the office. Part of me is hyper-sensitive to any type of terrorist attack, but part of me wants to say "is that really all the terrorists can come up with to try and influence the British election?" The problem with the latter sentiment is that even though I don't believe in "luck" or anything like that, it still feels like tempting fate.

Although this story may or may not eventually prove to be terrorist related, it doesn't appear to have any significant relevance to Travel Safety/Security so I'm transferring it over to Newsstand.

Of course it is travel safety related. If someone is in NY and wants to get a visa to visit the UK he would have to go to the consulate. :)
Actually, I had wanted to place it on Newsstand but didn't because I had no link at the time.
