New York City - Any recommendations for a good hotel (midtown) ?

I'm looking for a good hotel (quiet and clean) in NY midtown.

Some people suggested the Double Tree Metropolitan or the Holiday Inn Midtown 57th St.

Do you have any advice on those places or can you suggest some equivalent ones ?

Price range : around 200/250 USD per night.

The Muse was a Travelzoo Top 20 today for 4th of July and Labor Day weekends, $179 -

What dates will you be here?

The Westin Times Square is very nice. Although it's "Times Square," it's over on 8th Avenue & 43rd so it's a little bit away from all of the craziness and they have wonderful double-pane or maybe even triple-pane glass. (My parents, who live on a VERY QUIET street at home, always stay there and never have any complaints.) The location is also great for public transportation -- it's right be the A, C, E subway and just a block away you can find the 1/2/3/9/N/R/Q/W and shuttle trains -- making it easy to get ANYWHERE in the city.
