This books into fare class "L" (I called Best Flights to find out).

I know that this does not earn miles on AC Aeroplan (nor do Air New Zealand flights in booking classes G, K and S) so I would be *very* surprised if it earned miles on NZ (sorry, too lazy to look). On UA there is a faint chance - after all, they allowed earning on smart saver domestic and trans-tasman fares for a while...

Still, even without mileage earning, that's an incredible fare... and a great chance to try out the new longhaul product.
