I'm going to buy a new one ... ;) miikka May 2, 05, 3:04 pm I have been using V3 now for three months. I haven't had any problems with it and it seems to work very well in different networks (I prefer quad-band phones if possible). Software is not very feature-rich or fancy like in some Nokia phones but it works well for my needs (phonebook is not very good, still usable). Phone looks really good and is getting attention from everyone seeing it. Indurain May 2, 05, 4:15 pm It is more of a "cool" toy than anything else IMO. I find even the form factor is a little more chunky and not as ergonomic as some other phones on the market. I can't yet flip open the phone one-handed, that can easily be done with Samsung phones, or even the other V phones. The MMI (UI) is similar to the other V phones from Motorola. Charging, data and wired headphones are all connected via the USB port, which calls for a new set of chargers and cables if you only have the older Moto stuff. Speaker phone is about as good as the V600, and the internal antenna does not (yet) show the typical penalty in RF performance. While I did notice an increase in audio distortion and short muting, I have not completely ruled out network changes resulting from the Cingular / AT&T merge, which has resulted in an increased number of service complaints. When we get our 2nd Prius I'll see how the V3 works with the built-in Bluetooth handsfree setup in the car. There have been reports of problems with earlier Moto phones, but our current Prius doesn't have the Bluetooth option. JPGIV May 2, 05, 5:59 pm If you can hold off a little longer, you might want to consider holding off for one of the new SLVR V8 or a PEBL V6 models. Motorola (http://promo.motorola.com/premiermoto/index.html) has a website up for them now but you can find more detailed information on the SLVR model here (http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/5797.html) and the PEBL model here (http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/5792.html). Motorola is also planning on releasing a 3G model of the RAZR itself at the end of the year and you can find info on that here (http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/5863.html). The major reason I'd suggest for holding off on the purchase of a RAZR is that for a phone of its price to lack EDGE (the GSM version of high speed internet access for cell phones) is a pretty significant draw-back in today's market. |
