Lugging heavy bags through the airport could be a thing of the past. A new British company is about to launch a range of motorised, self-propelled suitcases it claims will revolutionise the market.

'It feels a bit like taking a very well-behaved dog for a walk,' said Clive Hemsley, managing director of Live Luggage.

It'd be pretty cool if the next version could follow you around like a dog.. and lift itself into the car.

So, we haven't exactly hit the lazy bottom yet

I can just see it now: people moving through the airport on one of those stupid Segue devices with their luggage following them. Can you ride a Segue, commandeer your luggage, and eat a Whopper all at the same time? That's the ultimate test...

You mean the Segway (http://www.segway.com/)? I guess you could just put a small hook on the back and then hook a normal bag with wheels on to that one. Wouldn't even need a motor in the bag.

They should rent Segways at airports, could be useful on the airports where you need to walk 20 minutes to get from your arrival gate to the gate for the next flight (like at FRA). :D

But how heavy is it?

Sure you don't need to haul it around, but what happens when you try to put it in the overhead compartment?

We could be talking a major hernia ;)

It would also be helpful if they could add a cup holder that can hold a 64oz cup of soda and another spot where you could put your large fries.

Oh, and a little warming bin where you could put your 880 calorie Cinabon.

And a big screen TV. And a remote, too.

Wow, it sounds like something out the the Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy's Sirius Cybernetic Corporation. Perhaps the final produce will talk and be called the "happy portable luggage transporter".

FWIW, the nuts provided with my LiveLuggage were cold, and the towels were too hot!

What a great gift for the elderly and others who have trouble moving luggage around. For most people who doint I don't see it being wirth the xtra cost and weight, but then again I said the same thing about motorized golf bags, and we all know they took off too.

The powered model is NOT their "default" device, the normal models only have the special handle, they specifically state that the powered version IS available to those that need a little extra help, i.e. the elderly or disabled.
