Marriott Rewards - Athens Ledra Marriott Hotel

Has anyone stayed at this property? Is it safe for a single woman travelling alone? Is it near the major attractions in Athens? I am thinking of going to Athens in early November.

We stayed at this property a number of years ago. We had no concern about safety not should you;however, the Ledra Marriott is a short distance from the center of town. Marriott ran a shuttle from the hotel to Constitution Square, although when we returned late at night after partying in the Placa, the only transportation available was a cab.

Would I have a better chance at a room with a good view if I paid cash or used an award? I will be Plat by Nov.

We stayed there in early March. I think most of the floors have just been redone, so it was pretty nice. The health club is quite good, if that interests you. We chose the wine for the platinum welcome gift and received a full-sized bottle, not the usual half size. The concierge lounge is not overly large, but has really nice hors d'oeuvres. You could spoil your dinner if you aren't careful!
Safety shouldn't be a concern. There is a great taverna a few blocks behind the hotel which we have walked to many times after dark, and returned well after midnight. I think the hotel still offers a complimentary shuttle into the Square, but if not cabs are really quite affordable.
