Will Jetblue have it next hub in Detroit because i read a article that states that jetblue is looking in to Detroit to be it next hub or will it be a city it just fly in and out of?

The article you read was dated Sunday, July 18, 2004, and it mentioned 'in the next few years as a potential destination' so it would not be a 'focus city' (jetBlue doesn't do hubs). As of that date, they werent even in talks with Detroit yet.

Just to put my 2 cents, I would like to see Jetblue have a hub in STL. Since AA took over TWA a few years ago, AA only uses STL as a "focus" city. Seems to me AA underuses a lot thier gates at STL. STL would make good connections point for east/west markets. Jetblue can still operate the transcons from JFK, but if they were to use STL for say market like PHX, SLC, SMF, PDX, SEA, SAN with Conx in STL to Florida, Carribean, and smaller eastern markets it would work well.

I do not know why they would consider DTW. I try to avoid flying to DTW (especially in NW) during the winter months. Too much weather problems due to lake effect snows, ice, etc.

Well, I think the next hub will be somewhere in Ohio or it could be Indianapolis. Honestly I really don't have a clue other than it will be somewhere in the Midwest.

I would presume that CMH has capacity due to HP's pull-out. However, since their model relies more on point-to-point than connecting travel, I don't really see them putting a new "hub" in the midwest unless it can offer significant O/D traffic. I don't think any of the Ohio cities or IND would fit the bill. (Plus IND would have competition from another - admittedly weak - LCC.)

That said, it wouldn't surprise me to see many of those cities gain service, just not likely a hub.

As stated, B6 doesn't exactly utilize hubs in the technical sense. Even their JFK base is little more than a large focus city-- for which it is perfectly suited.

In Chicago, Jesse Jackson Jr. has mentioned JetBlue as he tries to press for building his third airport near Peotone. However, the airport is a longway off (if it ever gets built)

Gary, Indiana could be an intriguing possiblitiy. Only slightly further from downtown Chicago as O'Hare, and begging for carriers. However, O'Hare may be more likely if they ever straighten out the mess there. However, Southwest is all over MDW, limiting the chance.

STL could be a good place. Southwest is there, though it hasn't been a real focus. There is a decent amount of local O/D traffic. AA has pretty much given up competing with the WN routes. If B6 came in to compete in some of its routes (especially NYC) AA may just through in the towel.

HP's hub in CMH was mostly just RJs to the east coast, with a few mainline flights west, (to HP hubs and Cali) It has not much of a hub, and never profitable for them. The market just is not that great.

IND is now taken over by NW. Not a fun place to compete, and not very large.

CVG may be interesting. A decent market, and a Delta RJ hub, I'm sure Song would be a singing if B6 popped in there.

Midwest expansion would be ideal for B6. Midwest->West Coast is about the perfect distance for an A320. Very little chance of worrying about fuel stops or excess weight. A problem is that the largest cities (especially Chicago) are all very well served to most domestic destinations by LCCs. Now international may be the way to go...
