I was trying to get rooms for my graduation next month at the local Hilton/Hampton. All the rooms were booked for both purchase and award redemption according to the CSR.
But I was surprised to find two available rooms that I had wanted for award booking on their Hhonors website, although at different hotels. All the other local hotels are gouging due to obvious reasons. Fairfield wants $450 +tax a night and the Marriott wants $300 +tax a night with 2 night minimum.
This is the best 45K points I have spent in the US for the two rooms.
