I have a National car rented for June 1 in Dallas for a weekend wedding. I went out to register for Emerald and there were two boxes for different codes. Kind of new to this, but before I register should I have some code for a better deal or what. Thanks

Keep in mind that - if you provide even a little business - most rental car express services are free.

For example, you get comped for Hertz #1 Gold for only four annual rentals.

FWIW, Biztravel.com has always offered free Emerald Club membership. There is no deadline.

Most travel agencies have application forms that offer National Emerald, Hertz Gold, and Avis Preferred for free.

There are other codes that give you stuff like free upgrades and one free day for a three or more weekend day rental. Check the coupons that come with your frequent flyer statements to find the coupons and codes on them...

I signed up a couple of months ago through Biztravel.com for free Emerald Club membership. I just made a reservation for a one-way rental next week. The code given above by Anthony returned a rate of $148.00 for the one day, one-way rental. My biztravel code gave me a rate of $52.00.

anthony - only joking. I know you get several
different prices, with different numbers, type of car etc. The price is sometimes also
depending on the time you make the reservation. I had this with Alamo; 25% difference!

Hey guys, I think if you put anthony's code into the National reservation, it will override any other deal or promotion you are trying to get. It's kind of like when getting a percentage off the rack rate at a hotel is not as good as another deal you might have struck. But for some people who don't have any discounts already, or are not emerald members, the code works for them.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif No, I certainly do not get any commission. That code is a Visa card discount for 10%-15% off. Supposedly you have to pay with your Visa card when you rent with that code, but they never check or seem to care.

I guess if you are an Emerald club member, you already get a discount in excess of the one that the code gives you, and if you enter it in, it will override your discount and give you a higher price....

So I guess only those that aren't an Emerald club member or who don't already have any type of discount should use that code.
