Hilton HHonors - AVOID -- Hampton Inn-Mesquite in Dallas Area

I stayed at the Hampton Inn-Mequite on Monday, April 25. I called the Diamond desk that afternoon to book a room. When I showed up, the lobby was full of dogs. Not tiny poodles or weiner dogs but the skinny types that you could put a saddle on and ride. I asked the lady at the desk.."these dogs are not going to stay in the rooms, are they?" You guessed it -- the place was packed with dogs in the room. Against my better judgement, I drank the Kool Aid served by the front desk -- I would be on the sixth floor, sans dogs. Big mistake. The whole place smelled like wet dog and the barking in the early am was pronounced.
I feel sorry for the folks staying at the hotel for the next week after the dogs leave today. The rooms are going to smell nasty. So, if you are planning to stay there, you might want to check your room before agreeing to stay the night.
I love dogs. I just have a problem with so many in the rooms of the hotel where I am staying.
You may choose to stay at the hotel. I just want to give everyone a heads up so they can make a informed decision.

I just checked the Hilton website. I found the Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas/Mesquite. It says
Hotel Policies
Check-In: 4:00PM - Check-Out: 12:00PM
Parking: Self Parking: 0.00
Pets: No Pets Allowed
I guess those dogs weren't anyone's pets.

I did call the Diamond Desk after my visit, I made the reservation at the last minute through them, and they told me that the pet policy is decided by each property and can be changed when desired.
So, as my granny would say, don't believe everything you read.
I will say that the suite I stayed in was very nice and seemed recent. Only the wet dog smell and the barking was a bummer.

I stayed at this hotel the night of April 24th and I didn't encounter any smell. I was giving a room on the 6th floor and didn't hear any barking what so ever. The hotel is connected to a convention center and rodeo arena. I was told that the rodeo arena is where they have a lot of events that are broadcasted on ESPN. Also, I overheard the general manager tell the staff on Sunday that the dogs were suppose to enter through a seperate entrance at the hotel away from the main enterance.
BTW, I was there on business and not associated with the dog show.
