I assume this was announced last night, caught in on the spg.com website. Hopefully they will continue to strive to be the dominant program.

I was at the Freddie's last night and it seemed like Starwood was constantly at the podium.

And a big thanks to all who ensured justice and helped prevent Starwood from winning the best website award!
Personally, I think Starwood wuz robbed in the Bonus Promo category.

Well deserved. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to the Meridien addition.

Not surprising really. They were pretty stingy in their promos last year and most of the promos were targetted and so would not get widespread votes.

It would be very appropriate if William Saunders was at the freddy podium to accept some of the Starwood Hotels. He is the benchmark of what this company offers in service.

Am I the only one who thinks *Wood's domination of the Freddie's is a bad thing? It seems to me as long as the keep winning management will think further dilution of elite ranks and further inflation of point redemption requirements is OK. Not to mention the gradual loss of properties (St. Regis LA, The Essex House, The Danieli...etc.) which limit out options for both revenue and award redemption stays.
Anyone else feel this way?

I am sure William appreciates the kind words.
Yes indeed Mr. Sanders (not Saunders ;) ) was at the podium excepting a Freddie award on behalf of Starwood this past Thursday evening at the Grand Hyatt in NYC. :-: :-: :-: ^
I am the king of typos but for our one and only Starwood Lurker we must get his name/spelling right!
He was one of the more celebrated VIPs of the evening known now throughout the industry and the general public in raising the bar for online customer service.
For those that may not be aware he has been written about and immortalized in Customer Relationship Management books such as
"Creating Customer Evangelists" and received his very own own Industry Impact Freddie Award at the 15th Annual Freddie Awards in Colorado Springs(home of the House of Miles) back in April of 2003.
I think I speak for many when I say Flyertalk, Starwood and the public(self included) have all benefited enormously by his presence and ongoing contributions to the SPG forum here on Flyertalk.

And, now for grammar.... ;) :D
Well earned. Kudos to Starwood once again.

They didn't get my vote this year... congratulations anyway.

It was a great honor to meet William: he truly is a pioneer in this arena. Indeed, he was one of many, many Starwood execs in attendance to receive their many, many awards -- now that the program is divided up to so many categories/regions, it seems that there are just that many more awards for Starwood to win.

Doesn't SPG usually offer a thank you award to Flyertalkers in the form of 25% redemption discount to celebrate its annual victory?
Has this been announced for this year?

If my memory serves me correct there was some kind of interesting point bonus on stays last year that ran through to July
Nothing has been announced that I know of presently at this time.
It was our very own Starwood Lurker that brought the music to our ears in presenting the goodwill gesture promotion for lack of better words at the time. Or a Freddie bonus as it really was :D ^
