Thousands of flyers are paying hefty fines for bringing banned items on flights.

Wow! Confiscation of the banned item is not enough?? I find it interesting that TSA pointed out the fine is not automatic and it's based on the passenger's attitude, intent, and the threat the banned item poses. Well, who determines who gets fined? Are there published guidelines? I have already wondered why we even bother with TSA because it's security procedure is such a joke, and now it can fine us! I suggest we should all fire angry letters to our local Congressman.
