Do you use the Hilton HHonors Amex? If so, this is a new feature of the card that went into effect on April 15. The new features have been discussed in several threads on this board.

This bonus appears to be permanent (or as permanent as any benefit in a benefits program :) ).

When was your stay and when did you book it on-line? The new benefit on the AMEX card only went into effect on April 15 and I didn't expect the booking bonus to appear separately, but rather as part of the AMEX points posting which runs with each billing cycle.

I had two stays, both booked on-line and paid for with the HHonors AMEX card on April 15 and April 16, and niether received the bonus points. Has anyone else received the 500 bonus points for booking on-line?

How more like the Starwood card? Maybe more comparable value? If anything, I think that Hilton is differentiating itself from Starwood on this one. I'm glad to see it.

Yup...my guess is that the extra 500 must happen only from reservations that were made after April 15th....

I had two stays last week - one starting on the 19th ending on the 20th, made reservations about 4 weeks ago. I had another on the 21st ending on the 22nd - made reservations last week. The first reservation no extra 500 - the second reservations extra 500 points.

The points are not posting from AMEX - they are posting with the hotel stays from Hhonors.

Whoopee! I had two stays recently, one on the 10th and the other on the 18th. The first one had no bonus, the second one did.

If this is permanent, good deal!

I'm guessing you have to book and pay with the AMEX, which I do.

Wow... that would really suck if this is only working for reservations booked after April 15th.

I have 2 upcoming Hilton reservations, booked about 4 weeks ago. When I first got the "changes in terms/conditions" letter for my HHonors Amex, I'd even made the effort to cancel my old reservations (which were booked with a different card initially), and rebook to use my Amex. Still, the booking date is before April 15th.

I can't rebook them now 'cause by now the rates have gone up.

I really hope that Hilton will give out the bonus for all stays from this point forward, regardless of when the reservations were booked. I'd imagine there are a fair number of travelers who book stays in advance.

I'm with you. I have reservations booked into early next year. I don't think it matters if you book with the AMEX card or not. There is really no way for HHonors or AMEX to know what card is used in the reservation since it is only holding a room. It only matters that you book on-line at a Hilton site and PAY with the AMEX card.

I have an e-mail in to HHonors requesting points for my two most recent stays. We'll see what they say.

I hope you are on the money with this one... it makes perfectly good sense. I look forward to your reply from HH. :)

I emailed HHonors for the 500 Amex points for a stay April 23rd, booked online prior to April 15th and they posted the points to my account as 500 Customer Service points

This is all covered in the following thread (and probably others):

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=407567

It is also covered on this page on the HHonors website:

http://www.hiltonhhonors.com/processLanding.aspx?lp=amexcard

(And postcards have been received by some, describing the new Amex HHonors benefits.)

KathyWdrf, I do not own a Hilton Amex card though. I used my SPG card. So like someone else here said, any Amex will do for the 500 point benefit.

The Diamond Desk credited me the 1000 bonus points as a "customer service adjustment". No other info provided.

Verrrry interrresting.... I wonder if it truly works with ANY Amex, or only the Optima Amex?

I like to pay for my HHonors hotel stays with my HHonors Amex rather than my Starwood Amex, since I get 5 HHonors points per dollar for that type of purchase (from the card alone), vs. just 1 Starpoint per dollar. In my experience, HHonors points are worth more than just 1/5 of a Starpoint; more like 1/3 to 1/4 of a Starpoint. YMMV, of course! @:-)

I went on line and modified all my HH reservations - they offer different options for modifying the information, or the booking - and changed my information, namely the credit card used to book against to my (new) Hilton HHonors Platinum American Express card. Just in case. Nothing changed in the pricing, even on a stay beginning Friday (Hilton Buenos Aires) that, had I actually re-booked, would have priced out quite a bit higher than my original reservation, though I did make the change and received an e-mail to confirm.

Please let us know if this works, i.e. you receive the on-line booking bonus without having to e-mail HHonors. Thanks!

I have been religiously e-mailing to get my 500 points. Today, I get an e-mail from the Diamond desk saying that they will credit the points this one last time. This 500 point bonus is only for stays reserved after April 15th - it doesn't matter when the stay occurs. I only have about 10 reservations that I am going to re-book because they were made before April 15th - it's amazing what some of us will do for 5,000 points. :D

This is lame! I have a number of reservations, including three this coming weekend, that were booked well prior to April 15. In fact, I have reservations out into March of next year booked before April 15. Some I can't even re-book since the rate has gone up significantly.
