Independence rates from GSO or CLT to MCO are quite attractive at < $100 RT in July. I read an opinion several months back they would likely file for bankruptcy this year. Is this the prevailing opinion?
Thanks.

The Flyi forum would be a better place to post this question.
Welcome to FT.

I'm sure it will get moved to the Independence Air forum shortly, but I'll go ahead and answer my perspective. It should be fine through the summer. If they're going to hit any tough spots, it'll be later this fall.
With the 319s coming on line, the load factors have been increasing, and the fare sales are not nearly as deep as they were, so I think we're going to see an improving perspective on them. I wouldn't have any problem booking with them.

Would you book the flight for that price on United? on US Air? They are already in bankrupcy. They are still flying.
Even if FlyI would get into real trouble it will be a while before they stop flying. In that case, paying with a credit card will protect you financially and federal law requires other airlines to accomodate you (albeit at space available) for a nominal fee.
You have a legitimate concern but given these facts I would not hesitate to give them a try.
FlyI is the sole reason you are looking at a fare that low.

He means the Independence Air forum on Flyertalk. Although now that this thread is in that forum, you may never find it....

No, the post was in another forum (MilesBuzz) but has already been moved. You can still see it in MilesBuzz which may be why haveric is confused.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted. My apologies for any inconvenience.

I just booked Independence Air roundtrip for August. Independence is rapidly becoming my airline of choice: Cheap fares, no middle seats (at least on any of the flights I've taken), on-time flights, double points. Unless you're flying Southwest or Jet Blue, you're at some risk no matter what airline you choose. I'll definitely take that risk in return for some of the prices I've been getting on Independence ($100 RT Washington-Cleveland, $170 RT Washington-Las Vegas, both nonstop).
