I am booked on a Business Class flight CPH to Shanghai with my wife and 2 year old daughter. I have never flown SAS long haul before and wondered what the seats were like, what facilities are like for young kids and whether anybody has upgraded to the bed that they talk about on their website.

In fact any hints on SAS Bus Class long haul would be appreciated. :D

Done it a few times:
I assume your daughter has not yet 2 and thus travel as an infant:
1) Be sure to secure a bulk head seat - my preference is row 8 A/B or G/H. this will give you access to a baby "craddle" or in your case she can sleep on the floor in front of you and you would still have plenty of leg room. Further the sleeper seats are in row 1 and 3 - so they will likely prefer not to have you in row 1 (as it may take complaints from those sleeper passengers). Last time I did this our daugther slept from the gate at IAD and woke up 45 minutes prior to landing a CPH - perfect.
2) Being in the mini C cabin will also provide you with more attention and not so many angry looks for those high paying pax trying to sleep ;) Only downside is the proximity to the lavatory in front of you
3) Book a sleeping bag - it is not very thick but it will do nicely
4) SAS will not have baby food for you - if you order it it will be in replacement of an adult serving - I have been told several times that their system can not handle it

Thanks for this - I'll look at the seats I have reserved. Generally I like to be as close to the front of the plane as possible.

My daughter will be 2 years and 1 week, so will have her own seat. Also she eats normal food, but needs a bottle of milk prior to bed which I guess won't be a problem.

Re angry looks, not that I am bothered, but my daughter has been on over 100 flights in her short life and never has she caused any problems, other than once or twice at landing when her ears were obviously hurting, but by that time everybody is awake anyway!! ^

Well, as she is not an infant but has her own seat, other seatings may be just as valid. I would just avoid row 6 and 7 - traffic to lavatories and buffet

Since your daughter will have a seat and eats normal food, you can request a childs meal at any point up to 48 hours before the flight. This is also neat because it includes "toys" to keep the little ones occupied. Also regarding the bottle issue, this should not be a problem. The flight crew are very accomodating, just ask and they can heat it for you no problem. :) As earlier mentioned the sleeping bags are a plus but make sure you also order them in advance, they aren't available on the day of departure unless you've notified SAS you wish to have one. Have a great trip!!
