Air New Zealand Air Points - NZ rewards seats...

Hi,

I know there isn't much anyone can do, I just need to keep checking, but any thoughts on getting reward economy tickets from WLG to LAX on NZ using UA miles for first part of July this year?

I am trying to get 2 seats, but there is nothing available...looks like all of July. Anyone have some experience booking awards in July? Thanks.

From the NZ Key Dates Thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320780), July is school holidays. Also it is winter down here with skifields open - a lot of visitors come for that.

I think you just need to be flexible, keep trying and hope someone cancels.

What routings are you trying? NZ domestic flights (WLG-AKL or WLG-CHC) can be purchased in advance (and one-way) relatively cheaply (on www.airnz.co.nz for example). For the international part, NZ routes AKL-LAX, AKL-SFO, CHC-LAX. Other option is to go via Australia (NZ WLG-SYD, WLG-MEL, CHC-SYD, CHC-MEL, AKL-SYD, AKL-MEL or TG AKL-SYD) and then on United to LAX or SFO.
