Hello all,
Im hoping those of you who fly with Air NZ can alleviate my concerns. I recently booked a couple of Star awards in business class through Aeroplan. On one award. I wont go into the long story as to why we're on 3 different tickets(I'd be here an hour:(, but the long and short of it is, we'll be travelling on ticket 1 from YYZ to LAX(overnighting in LA) then the next day to Papeete. On ticket 2 we'll be continuing on to Rarotonga on the same flight that we're on to Papeete on ticket 1. Air Canada is telling me(and yes I know this makes no sense), that we will have to deplane in Papeete get luggage, clear immigration , and re check in for the Rarotonga flight since its on a seperate ticket(there wouldnt be enough time to do this since the stop in Papeete is only just over an hour). I called Air NZ and the agent told me that was nonsense, and as long as we produced both tickets at LAX they would check us all the way through. Called Aeroplan back to finalize award, and told them what NZ said, Aeroplan says NZ is wrong, that LAx cant check in the flight from ppt to rar since its a seperate award ticket....what AP is saying doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me but both agents seemed rather adamant about their respective positions..pls tell me that NZ is right, otherwise I havent the foggiest how we'll make this work :)
