Have tried to check in for a MCI-DCA flight this afternoon at 4:50 Central time and every time I try, I get this:

"Your reservation is in the system, however, we are unable to complete your check-in at this time. On day of departure, please proceed to one of our self-service kiosks at the airport or see a Customer Service Representative at the airport to complete your check-in. "

Any ideas what gives?

Often this means that you've been flagged for extra security which means you gotta check in at the airport to get a specially printed boarding pass.

Happens to me all the time.

If you e-mail US and tell them this happened, they'll still credit you the bonus miles as if you were able to check in online.

Don't feel bad. I just got the same message. It even let me select an exit row seat before giving me the message. I tried it without changing seats, but got the same message. If this turns into SSSS, it will be my first time in over 2 years.

Bigger question is whether its ever up. I can never get it to work.

Hmmmm - unlike the rest of the notorious website, I don't think I've ever had problems with web check-in (other than the ability to use soemthing other than IE - is it really that hard...)

Well, I got to the airport early because of my inability to use OLCI. Checking in with an agent took about 3 seconds and no SSSS. So, I don't know what the deal was. Of course, I couldn't take enough metal off not to ding the detector so I got the full pat down anyway. :rolleyes:

Bingo! Got the dreaded SSSS. Turns out that almost 20 people got flagged on that flight. The TSA agent just shrugged and said he had no idea how this happened, that usually it's only a couple of folks a day there.
First time I got SSSS'ed in over 18 months at least.
