US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - somewhat interesting story...ok, not really

Happened to chat with a coworker last weekend about her experiences flying US roundtrip between CLT and FLL weekly for the past four weeks. The Thursday/Friday return flights have NEVER been on-time. In fact, she sat next to a gentleman who flies that route twice a week, every week, who was more than happy to relate that he could only recall ever arriving in CLT on-time ONCE.
So much for making FLL an appealing destination. In their defense (maybe), most of the delays seem to be the always-annoying leave the gate and sit on the tarmac type.

My experience flying out of FLL has shown that departure delays are fairly common, and almost always related to the amount of incoming private aircraft traffic...especially in the winter months, and especially on Thursdays through Sundays.

The FAA is actually looking at bucking the NIMBY trend at FLL and utilizing the crosswind runway. If you check the ARTCCs daily and their web pages, you will find that there is usually flow control if not ground stops for traffic bound to FLL.
It was not designed with the current traffic levels in mind, and absent the use of the crosswind runway is basically a one runway operation.

I have the last flight out next Wed FLL-CLT with continuing service to BOS...are you saying that I might get stuck in CLT? If so, do they usually consider the delays in FLL as ATC related (ie no comp due)?
Thanks. M
